The Harrisonburg Police Department are still investigating the bomb threat / incident that occurred yesterday at the Wachovia Bank on South Main Street. They now think there could be two additional people involved.
The suspect that was taken into custody yesterday has claimed that two unidentified men kidnapped him with pistols on Rex Road in Harrisonburg. He went on to claim that he was forced to withdraw money from his bank account or the device that they had taped to him would explode.
A search warrant executed by police shows that a meat cleaver, duct tape, wipes, a trash-bag and a cellphone have been seized from a house on Rex Road. Police were also spotted seizing a computer earlier this morning.
In case you are not familiar with the story, Monday at around 9:15 am, the HPD responded to a report of a man going into the bank with what looked like bomb taped to his back. All bank employees were able to evacuate the building and nobody was hurt. The bomb was actually a fake and was detonated by officers from the bomb squad. The surrounding area was swept and no other devices were found.
No charges have been filed in this case and those with any info about this case should call the HPD (Crime Stoppers) at 540-574-5050.
